The St Francis Yacht Club was founded in 1927 when the members of the San Francisco Yacht Club (the oldest sailing club in the western United States) decided to move their clubhouse out of San Francisco to Belvedere, California, about 13 miles to the north in Marin County. About half of the membership of the San Francisco Yacht Club declined to make the move and instead formed the St. Francis. The Blue Angels is the United States Navy’s flight demonstration squadron. The Blue Angels team was formed in 1946,[1] making it the second oldest formal flying aerobatic team (under the same name) in the world, after the French Patrouille de France formed in 1931. The Blue Angels’ six demonstration pilots fly the F/A-18 Hornet, typically in more than 70 shows at 34 locations throughout the United States each year, where they still employ many of the same practices and techniques used in their aerial displays in 1946. An estimated 11 million spectators view the squadron during air shows each full year. The Blue Angels also visit more than 50,000 people in a standard show season (March through November) in schools and hospitals. A steam locomotive is a railway locomotive that produces its pulling power through a steam engine. These locomotives are fueled by burning combustible material, usually coal, wood or oil, to produce steam in a boiler. The steam moves reciprocating pistons which are mechanically connected the locomotive’s main wheels. Both fuel and water supplies are carried with the locomotive, either on the locomotive itself or in wagons (tenders) pulled behind.

The US started developing steam locomotives in 1830 with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad’s Tom Thumb. This was the first US-built locomotive to run in America, Stourbridge Lion being the first, although it was intended as a demonstration of the potential of steam traction, rather than as a revenue-earning locomotive. Many of the earliest locomotives for American railroads were imported from Great Britain, including the Stourbridge Lion and the John Bull (still the oldest operable engine-powered vehicle in the United States of any kind, as of 1981) but a domestic locomotive manufacturing industry was quickly established, with locomotives like the DeWitt Clinton being built in the 1830s  -Wikipedia

The San Francisco Bay Area has always held a certain place in my heart, it is a special place with a rich history and elegance that have been appreciated by all that have visited and an even more profound love for those who have either spent time here or for some lucky few who have had the pleasure of living here.  After growing up in Sacramento, I spent most of my adult life living in San Francisco, and even now, San Francisco is no further than a BART ride across the bay from where I currently make my residence in the East BayThe Beatles sang, “There are places that I remember…”, the San Francisco Bay Area is one of those special places.  In this series of blogs which I call “San Francisco Bay Area Through The Eyes of a Local Artist and Photographer”, I will take my audience through the fabulous streets of the San Francisco Bay Area as interpreted by myself, a long time San Francisco Bay Area local.

Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century. Steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the 19th century’s British Victorian era or American “Wild West”, in a post-apocalyptic future during which steam power has regained mainstream use, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power. Steampunk perhaps most recognisably features anachronistic technologies or retro-futuristic inventions as people in the 19th century might have envisioned them, and is likewise rooted in the era’s perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, and art. Such technology may include fictional machines like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or the modern authors Philip Pullman, Scott Westerfeld, Stephen Hunt and China Miéville.
